The title is for Google, but here's a stupid eject optical media trick that doesn't require you to jack around with a business card:
drutil tray eject
You don't even need sudo for it. If there's some reason why the tray can't be opened, i.e. files in use, tray eject fails. But it's really handy for when there's nothing mounted, and even Disk Utility doesn't think you have anything in the drive.
