I get cool, but weird compliments

So at Macworld, I think on Monday, I was talking to Mike Rose, from TUAW, who I met for maybe the first time last week. (I probably met him before, but I have a mind like a sysadmin) I actually got to meet a couple people from TUAW, including Christina Warren who is ridiculously smart, well-spoken, (Did I really just say that? Holy fuck, when did I get THAT old. Jesus, makes her sound like she's one of those mutant infants who sings opera), and remarkably self-aware for being so terribly young. (I love smart people, but when they're damned near younger than my high school diploma...le sigh.)

ANYway, Mike said something to me that was a real compliment. He said he liked my writing here, but because of my...erm...love for profanity and interesting analogies, he has to make sure that, if anyone at TUAW wants to link to this site, that the article is...appropriate for TUAW, which has an audience that includes kids for whom this site is simply inappropriate.

I dug that, because a) someone likes my work for the right reasons. That is, he, (and from what I understand, Christina) like what they read here and get my..."voice" as it were. The other reason I like what Mike said is because b) it means that TUAW is doing the job of vetting things they link to, so as to ensure it's appropriate for their audience. In this day and age of "make everything appropriate for a seven year old with low self-esteem", that's more rare than it should be, and so I'm impressed that they do their own work.

Also, I get that kind of compliment a lot, so it'd be kinda stupid for me to get all huffy about it.
