Innocence is so cute

On InformationWeek, (Disclaimer: I do write for them from time to time, and not for free either), Serdar Yegulalp has an interesting article about the FSF being well, a tad annoyed that people don't insist only on Stallman-Approved software. Serdar quotes an GNU article by the Holy One Himself, Why “Open Source” misses the point of Free Software.

Now, I don't care what Stallman thinks of things. Honestly, he had a few great ideas over two decades ago, and since then, has made damned sure you know it, and that if you disagree with his views, you're a bad person. He's still bitching about people not calling it "GNU/Linux". Fuck that. I don't drive a Snap-On/Chevy, I don't own a Makita/Toyota. My wife owns a Chevy, I own a Honda, and it's fucking "Linux". The toolmakers get respect, but if you want your name up in lights Richard...I'm sorry, Dick, how about you spend less time trying to steal Linux PR and more time FINISHING FUCKING HURD? You know, your "original" OS that still can't support > 2GB Drive partitions, (Item 2.6 on the HURD FAQ. If that's wrong, that's even worse. If you can't keep your FAQ straight, then why the FUCK am I going to trust your OS code?) Nor does Hurd support APM. Tell me again why this shit is better than Linux without any political bullshit?

However, the part where I just want to hug Serdar, and give him some cookies and juice is this bit:

Honestly, I don't like to speak ill of the very people who've made possible so much of what I write about in this column. The FSF started something incredibly important, revolutionary, remarkable -- you pick the adjective; it would be hard to overstate their importance and impact.

But the FSF also needs to accept that other people have taken their ideas and gone in different directions -- directions that to them are every bit as fruitful -- and that not everyone can spare the energy to be a politician.

FSF...needs...to...accept...other...people's...ideas....and viewpoints...

BAAAAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA

BAAAAAAAAAHAAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHHAAHAHAHHA

AAAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

That's so innocent, ignorant and just full of a lack of awareness that Stallman doesn't give a fuck about anyone's voice but his own, and if you want your lips to count in his world, you best be puttin' them straight on his bunghole.

It's kind of like a Care Bear asking a shark and a seal why they can't just be friends.
