Hear that flushing sound?

It's the last of the FSF's claim to being anything but a douchebag collective of a cult going down the bowl.

All I know is if I have to be at the Genius Bar, and I hear someone lower on the Apple totem pole than the Earth's Mantle being hassled by some fucking jackwad wanna-be crusader showing how good they are at being good little followers, there's a freetard who's going to learn that the world has no patience for their shit and has no qualms about turning their self-esteem into free radicals. Yeah sonny, you think you know profanity? Lemme tell you, when I get done with you, you'll think Zombie-fucking-Carlin got up in your shit.

What a bunch of loser douchebags. They couldn't get anyone to agree that a free turd isn't a turd, so now they're going to go fuck with people who have NO ABILITY TO CHANGE SHIT, and people who JUST WANT THEIR COMPUTER FIXED, all in the name of MAKING A POLITICAL STATEMENT, and KEEPING THE SPOTLIGHT ON THEM.

Make no mistake, that's all this is: a pathetic attempt at large-scale attention-whoring. Oh, I'm sure they think they're right up there with Medgar Evers and the Freedom Marchers, but that's what cults are good at: Deluding the members into believing the latest party line. At this point, the FSF is little more than a cult of personality based on a folk-dancing nincompoop. Just like Stalin and Mao, only whiny instead of deadly.

All that's left is for the FSF to merge with PETA. They're both equally as cultish and useless as the other.

There really words to describe the FSF anymore. And to think people still donate money to them.

Apple has every right to throw them out of the stores, and any genius they harass has every right to tell them to fuck off. Normal politeness & respect for customers doesn't apply in their case.

I’m Matt Lee, campaigns manager at the Free Software Foundation.

We have asked people to go to Apple stores and show Apple’s staff their opposition to Apple’s DRM. Describing this with terms such as “denial of service” and “disruption” is untrue.

When people go one by one to a store and tell the staff what they think, that’s not an attack. When Apple implements DRM, when Apple deactivates unlocked iPhones, that’s an attack.

“Voting with your feet” means individually rejecting DRM. Of course you should do that, but acting collectively is stronger than acting individually. The movie companies organize, the record companies organize, and a large company such as Apple is lots of people who are organized to achieve an aim which in this case is unjust.

To overcome them, we must organize too. It would be a shame if DRM prevails because we artificially limited ourselves to individual action in response to a well-planned attack on our freedom.

So if you recognize DRM as a threat to your freedom, please participate in this and other protests. If even 5 protestors visit a
store in a day, the protest will be a success there, but we cannot take that much participation for granted.

Matt Lee - the page John linked to reads as follows:

"We want as many people as possible to book slots this Friday and Saturday. Why not book more than one?"

Could you explain to me how advocating for booking multiple appointments with the Genius Bar does not deny service to those who wish to use the Genius Bar for the purposes it was intended for?

Also, questioning an Apple Genius is not "rejecting DRM". But that distinction may be lost on the FSF.

First Matt...Bullshit. That is a completely accurate description of what will happen when your little cultists jam up the genius bar wasting time with questions on Apple policy that you, I, and anyone with half a clue know that an APPLE GENIUS who is really a better-paid, better-dressed version of a GEEK SQUAD member, cannot possibly answer.

Do you honestly expect me to believe that you seriously expect to get official replies on policy from someone working front-line tech support in a retail store? If your answer is yes, then I ask you, what is the gravitational constant in your world?

See, I can't believe that anyone able to spell their name is that stupid or naive, so the only reason for flooding Genius Bars is to attract attention to your little cult by fucking up the program for people who just want to earn a living and people who just want to get their computer fixed. It's no better than protesting oil price gouging by blocking pumps at the neighborhood gas station, and just as shitty a tactic.

Yes it is. It's an attack on people's ability to do their jobs. You know what a "job" is, right Matt? It's what people who *aren't* supported by free money from suckers, er, *supporters* have to do to work. All this is going to do is go fuck with people who CAN'T CHANGE SHIT. Again, maybe you need to learn about this thing called an "org chart" and notice the difference in position between "The CEO" and "Retail Schlub #09284570293).

When Apple implements DRM, when Apple deactivates unlocked iPhones, that’s an attack.

Oh lord, TEH DRAMAAAAA! Unless Steve is personally kicking me in the nuts every time I use my iPhone, then no, it's not a fucking attack. Maybe that line of shit plays well in your little freetard circlejerk, but see, I'm still prone to this whole "thinking for myself" thing, wherein I weigh all the options for a given task and pick the best option. Oddly, it's not based on a single qualification that is nothing more than blind obeisance to the political ramblings of someone who lives off of the largesse of his followers. The only difference between Stallman and Jim Jones is 400 gallons of flavor-aid, and the fact that Jones had better hygiene.

Oh, and of course, the option YOU prefer, well, I can't really buy that yet, can I. No, no I can't. And if you want to sell it in the U.S., it will be encumbered by the same laws with regard to GPS as the iPHone. But somehow, you don't mention that, do you? No, because then someone might realize how thoroughly full of shit you are.

“Voting with your feet” means individually rejecting DRM. Of course you should do that, but acting collectively is stronger than acting individually. The movie companies organize, the record companies organize, and a large company such as Apple is lots of people who are organized to achieve an aim which in this case is unjust.

You could have done this any one of a dozen ways that didn't fuck with people who can't change shit, and won't cause problems for working stiffs. But no, that's like, real work, and doesn't get you as much attention, does it? No.

As well, you speak of "injustice"? Are you seriously comparing this to a REAL example of injustice? WIll that be your marketing tag for the FSF version, (assuming it ever becomes more than a politically correct toy for stallmanites)? "Buy me, because everyone else is evil and bad"?

What a bunch of shit, especially coming from a group who happily runs on patent-encumbered hardware. Funny, I don't see you protesting Intel, AMD, Seagate, Hitachi, IBM, HP et al. Where are your campaigns there? I see your limp-dicked BIOS campaign, but all you do is urge people to use AMD. Obviously, AMD doesn't use patents, right?

Wrong.

So for all your posturing about free and open computing, you explicitly support a company using patents to encumber their work, and keep it non-free.

To overcome them, we must organize too. It would be a shame if DRM prevails because we artificially limited ourselves to individual action in response to a well-planned attack on our freedom.

Again, funny how for all the bits you waste bitching about Microsoft, you're not calling for people to go to Redmond and demonstrate. Why, all you do for say, Windows Media center is tell people to boycott it. How come a boycott's good enough for Microsoft, yet Apple requires people to go in and fuck with people's livelihoods? Oh, wait, I know. It's because even though that affects FAR more people than the fucking iPhone, it doesn't get you as much attention, and if it's not going to feed your delusions of being some kind of crusader, well, then you're not going

So if you recognize DRM as a threat to your freedom, please participate in this and other protests.

I was in the military. My definition of "threat to my freedom" obviously pales in comparison to the true, heinous evil that is DRM on the fucking iPhone. Silly me, I'm all worried about piddly shit like the erosion of minor things like the Bill of Rights. Hell, fuck freedom from unreasonable search, or not being imprisoned for the rest of my life in a gulag because some federal official declared me an enemy combatant, THERE'S DRM ON THE IPHONE!!!!!!!!OMGWTFKHAAAAAAN!!!!!

Easily distracted idiots like you are a dictator's dream.

If even 5 protestors visit a store in a day, the protest will be a success there, but we cannot take that much participation for granted.

If even five people fuck with someone's livelihood, it's proof that we need mandatory tasing.

All you're missing is the required comparison to MLK to go from freetard douchebag to full blown fucking idiot. Care to go for the gold?

@Matt Lee:

DRM isn't a threat to my freedom. Bad government is a threat to my freedom. Citizens with weak critical-thinking skills are threats to my freedom. Your infantilized hyperbole is noise that obscures important issues.

DRM is merely an inconvenience I can work around or avoid. You and your group of sanctimonious children are just a time-wasting embarrassment to the middle class.

> show Apple’s staff their opposition to Apple’s DRM

Apple’s a business. If you want to show your opposition, then don’t buy their products. Those of us who do would appreciate if you’d let us be.
