They seemed to have heard me

onOne software that is. Last night, I got an email from the engineering manager at onOne apologizing for their installer bug, and for being told "We don't support remote installs".

I'm glad for the email, and I'm doubly glad that he came right out admitted they hadn't really thought about the ramifications of their installer setup for remote installs. With any luck, a fix will be forthcoming.

But again, if I hadn't yelled and screamed, and if people who know me who know people at onOne hadn't read the yelling and passed it on...

I would really like it if when someone says "Your installer is doing bad things", more companies would say "Damn...that's right, we need to fix that, any suggestions?" rather than silence or "We don't support that". I hate having to use the stick, but honestly, it still works far better than the carrot.

I know this will be scary for some of you, especially Notes fans. However, open standards, rah-rah.
If you want to use less-than or greater-than signs, or other similar charachters that HTML reserves,
you'll simply have to learn to do it the HTML way. Luckily, HTML is kind of popular, no matter what
your re-educators have told you, and you can easily find help on the intertubes.
