To everyone who thinks Apple owes them money because the iPhone price dropped

Whine a little louder, the starving people in Darfur can't hear you.

To those of you wondering why my misanthropic tendencies are so well-developed? Shit like "YOU DROPPED THE PRICE, WE DESERVE MONEEEE" is why. I hate entitlement queens, and MacMacs are the worst of all.

Every.Single.Complaint resolves to "Waaah, I want my $200 because I couldn't wait, WAAAAH"

Fucking crybabies. Get bent all of you, and eat glass.

I think Gruber really got it right. Crying that Apple should give you a refund implies that you think the iPhone was worth less than what you paid for it. That makes you either dishonest, or a sheep.

I got an 8GB two days after release, and I feel like I'm getting my money's worth out of it. If a $200 price cut means wider consumer appeal -- and I suspect we can agree that it does -- then I'm all for it. But the new price doesn't mean it wasn't worth the old price to me.

Exactly. The only "problem" here is that people now feel like they were stupid for not waiting.

That's not Apple's fault. I'm quite happy with my iPhone. What the price cut means is a better chance of me buying another one for Melissa, but that's it. I certainly don't think I got ripped off, nor do I think that I am owed anything.

Well I pretty much said the same thing but I was a bit, ok a lot, more wordy.

Oh damn. Well I guess whinging on and on will get you a $100 Apple store credit.

Looks like Steve is listning to the whiners after all ... $100 store credit on the way to the poor folks ...

Apple has no obligation to issue a refund.

That doesn't mean I'm not going to take it when they offer me $100 back in store credit. :-)

Yeah, that's great. People are stupid, give them money. Sigh. I mean, i'll take it, but did I *deserve* one, or was i *entitled* to one?

Shit

No

Well, maybe people will be happy with the $100 refund, and will finally shut up. But the hardware cost is a small portion of the total outlay that will be paid out out during the life of the contract. Over 2 years, they are paying AT&T a lot ($60 x 24 months = $1440). They seem willing to pay that. Funny how cell phone contract prices don't decrease over time as hardware costs do.

Tell you what mark, if they could have rolled the cost of the iPhone into the monthly contract payments, they would have heard no bitching, and made a lot of free money from the stupids.
