First we had the F-word
Then the N-word
Then the other F-word
Then a possible second N-word
Now, from CNN and Al Sharpton, we have the latest addition to this joyfully stupid list:
The B-word. That's right folks, you can't say "bitch" anymore. It's now "the b-word".
No, really:
The Rev. Al Sharpton, among the loudest critics calling for Imus' termination, indicated that entertainment is the next battleground. "We will not stop until we make it clear that no one should denigrate women," he said after Imus' firing. "We must deal with the fact that ho and the b-word are words that are wrong from anybody's lips.
I imagine that dog breeders are going to be rather put out that they can't ever say "bitch" again. So will quite a few other people dealing with the wonderful world of Canis lupus familiaris.
But hey, if it keeps Al and Jesse happy, and more importantly, quiet, well, it may not be in fact a bad thing.
Nah, it's still stupid. So stupid in fact, that I shall use song to illustrate how stupid expanding this list of words we fear too much to even speak truly is.
I give you, Kyle's Mom is a Stupid Bitch (in D-Minor)
, from the true genius of the folks over at Comedy Central and the South Park team:
Well, Kyle's Mom's a bitch, she's a big fat bitch,
she's the biggest bitch in the whole wide world,
she's a stupid bitch if there ever was a bitch,
she's a bitch to all the boys and girls.
Monday she's a bitch, on Tuesday she's a bitch,
and Wednesday to Saturday she's a bitch,
then on Sunday just to be different she's a
super King Kamehameha be-atch.
Have you ever met my friend Kyle's Mom,
she's the biggest bitch in the whole wide world,
she's a mean old bitch and she has stupid hair,
she's a bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch,
bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch cause-a she's a stupid bitch,
Kyle's Mom's a bitch and she's just a dirty bitch,
Kyle's mom is a bitch-ah.Can we please knock this shit off before the English language is reduced to nothing but a series of confusing Voldemort references?

Here's another lesson in cursing, compliments of Lauren Bacall, in the movie My Fellow Americans
Don't say "freaking", Russ. If you have to use the "F" word, go for the gold.

It's so obvious that Al Sharpton is only going after rap and hip hop because he realizes his own hypocrisy. File it in the too little too late department.

Can't forget "Bitch School" from Spinal Tap!

Don't worry. "Language planning", as the linguists call it, has historically been a fruitless endeavor.

Oh Sharpton's totally full of shit on rap. Face it, if Imus were black, neither Big Dumb Al nor Little Jesse would have gone after him with anything resembling the vitriol they used here.
No one wants to say it, but it's sure as shit true, because if it weren't, Big Dumb Al wouldn't be scrambling to justify why they've given rap a free fuckin' ride on Nigga/Nigger, bitch, ho, and all the rest.

I think the saddest thing is that it perpetrates the idea that the *language* you use is what 'denigrate[s] women'
Treating a symptom never makes the disease go away.

Wait, what?
The good Reverend can't bring himself to say "the B-word" but "Ho" is not a problem?
Posted by: Pike | April 17, 2007 10:51 AM
I dunno, "ho" is okay, "bitch" isn't?
If Imus had been a black musician who paid the verbal graft towards Big Dumb Al and Jesse that all famous black people are expected to, the two of them would be up there pulling a Russell Simmons to justify why calling women bitches and ho's is not just okay, but the unalienable right of black musicians.

Al Sharptoon and Jesse Jerkson should find another cause. They are going to put the black rapper out of business.
Its a double edge sword jerks

Just when you think, you got me figured out
The season's already changing
I think it's cool, you do what you do
And don't try to save me
Chorus:
I'm a bitch, I'm a lover
I'm a child, I'm a mother
I'm a sinner, I'm a saint
I do not feel ashamed
I'm your hell, I'm your dream
I'm nothing in between
You know you wouldn't want it any other way
I'm a bitch, I'm a tease
I'm a goddess on my knees
When you hurt, when you suffer
I'm your angel undercover
I've been numb, I'm revived
Can't say I'm not alive
You know I wouldn't want it any other way
(Bitch, Meredith Brooks)
hmmm?

That's an interesting point Jack, on a few levels. But the one that pops to the forefront the most for me:
Will "bitch" become the female version of "nigger"? In other words, will it become yet another word that ONLY certain parts of the population, (women) can say?
Because lord knows, that's just what we need. Yet another word with some complicated-assed set of rules for who is "allowed" to use it. Makes me want to get a dog and name it BitchNiggaFagFuck, just to see what happens. I mean besides me being hung in Effigy.

Well, John if you do name your dog BitchNiggaFagFuck (and I encourage it!) I promise I will purchase a chiuaua and name it el' SoloChristoNeoConMysogo!
