Got a Wii

There's STILL people in line for this thing. I happened to be out early this morning to see if my local muffler shop was open, and realized that Best Buy opened in 15 minutes, so figured, "what the hell". I had some coffee, and the newspaper, (note to paperphobes: It is still easier to read paper and drink coffee while waiting than to do the same with a laptop or tablet or other device. What do I do with the paper when it's time to go in? Chuck it. Yay not having to lug it around.), and find out they had 48 in. I was number 20. I was not last in line.

It's been out almost six months, and people are still lining up. We did however all walk around a nice stack of 360s and PS3s to get to the Wiis. Those are always in stock.

So it was painless, and I now have a Wii.

WIIIIIIIII.

Nice!

Did you buy any additional games?

Wii Play is a great way to pick up an extra controller, the billiards game that is included init is a lot of fun when you just need a quick 10 minute break (no pun intended).

For longer-term play, Zelda is a must, and the new Super Paper Mario is just delightfully fun, filled with all kinds of snide in-jokes and catty dialog (as well as the expected puzzles and hidden areas that have always made Mario games fun)

Picked up Wii-Play, because it was the best deal for a second controller, a couple of memory cards, and Zelda, which is just crack.

I can't imagine, now, going back to the old way of playing console games.

Rayman: Raving Rabbids is a lot of fun, as is Marvel Ultimate Alliance. I also like Wario Ware. Elebits is okay, but didn't hold my attention. At the moment, I'm playing Lego Star Wars using a wireless GC controller. :)

All my friends (and even my technophobic father) have been massively impressed with the default game you get with it (wii sports)

It's great that you've got a game there that actually gets people out of their couches... and even encourages them to take a break and get some fresh air from time to time.

I had a lot of trouble getting mine, here in the UK - I was lucky, though. The wii I bought was the second to last in the shop - they'd been fully restocked two hours earlier.

You mean to tell me this whole time you've been defending the really-needs-no-defense Wii, that you didn't even have one? How long do we have to wait until you tell us how un-fucking-believable it is to actually play it?

(Oops. Better not say fuck, you never know if there's a Christian protest group about to walk out on you.

LOL...buko, I've been playing the HELL out of the Wii long before I bought it. Friend of mine had hers off of eBay in December or so. Cow tossing rules.

I played Zelda Twilight Princess for something like ten-eleven hours on Sunday. Dear god, that's some addictive stuff. Rayman is stupid fun too.
