Finally figured out how to really fix the problem Moveable Type has with newer versions of Perl...
A complete REINSTALL FROM SCRATCH.
Note, that this solution, the only one that worked, didn't come from any of the MT people.
It came from the really smart folks at digital.forest, who are the fine, professional, top - notch hosts of this and many other sites.
This is why they're worth the money.
Oh, and I'm SO not pleased with MT and Six Apart over this, and there's going to be a much more detailed article on this...
